   Pat Sheehan
    Favorite Artist

When it comes to music over my 19 years, I have grown to listen to almost every genre of music. My favorite is rap and R & B but lately I have listened to country and enjoy it. Recently as well, I have listened to an artist who isn't exactly main stream yet but I believe he will be. Mike stud has been my favorite artist for the majority of this year because of his different style of music and his background behind why he makes music.

"Mike stud" is his artist name, but his real name is Michael Seander. He had never thought that he was going to be an artist because he was the typical college athlete. He grew up locally and close to me in Cranston, Rhode Island and was considered one of the best pitchers to ever come out of the state. After such an impressive high school career, he earned a full athletic scholarship to Duke University. After the promising start to Stud's collegiate baseball career, Tommy John surgery put him on the sidelines and this is when he started making music. After getting some noticeable recognition from his incredible rhyme schemes and cleverness, he began to make more music.

Mike stud's music is considered "frat rap" and normally I wouldn't listen that genre but I think that he is different and is very talented. He is a typical college guy trying to make it in the music industry after his baseball career has been cut short and he is doing a great job rapping and singing about partying, sports, girls, his life, and how he got to where he was. Some songs are about inspiration and are more deeper than others as some songs are just for fun and are for a younger age group like college students. One of his best trademarks is called "Sunday stud day" and this is every Sunday he makes a new remix to a mainstream song and changes it and makes his own verses, that is how I came across his music at first.

After graduating Duke, Stud transferred to Georgetown to continue his studies as a graduate student and to continue his attempt at regaining full strength at baseball, but this still didn't work and he had to give up that dream and has put full focus on his music. Stud is now one of the hottest upcoming musicians on the web. His mix tape A Toast to Tommy was released last October and debuted at top 3 on the worldwide and US iTunes charts. He has since headlined a sold-out 20-city national tour and has acquired nearly 10 million YouTube views. I recently saw him in Providence, Rhode Island and this was one of the better concerts I've ever been to because of his stage presence and hot new music, if you haven't heard of him or listened to him I strongly recommend it.
